Private Utility Scan Prior to Renovation

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Illinois was called out for utility locating at an existing apartment complex by a contractor who is renovating the buildings in the complex. The contractor hoped to find valuable information about utilities in the area for future modifications and add-ons on the site. Because they inquired that GPRS came out and scanned, they can be more comfortable and confident in their future modification.

GPRS scanning assists contractors by giving them a real time view of the utility layout, helping them to know where they can place certain boring or anchoring locations and it can help in reducing the likelihood of subsurface obstruction strikes during trenching, boring, and other sub-surface applications. Additionally, scanning can save valuable time by targeting specific anomalies /utilities to be uncovered and provide depth and location as well as information about the surrounding site. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems uses the RD-8000 Locator to help identify live power, communication and other utilities that may have a power signal on them. Once the utilities in the path were identified they were marked directly on the surface so the customer will know where the utilities are.

We can also detect utilities in the ground/under the surface via induction or conduction with an exposed or known surface utility line. This was all done in a safe, time efficient, non-destructive way. Once all live power, communication and other utilities that might give off a power signal are located and marked out, GPRS uses the latest GSSI Sir-3000 technology to help in double checking and locating other critical utilities under the surface. The radar emits radiation less than 1% of that found to be emitted by standard cell phones. This means practically no hazardous radiation to operators or persons around the work zone. Our system assists in the confirmation process of locating anomalies. Once the utilities in the path were identified they were marked directly on the surface so the customer will know where the utilities are. GPRS specializes in multi-technology investigations. In order to do so, we employ highly qualified, trained and hardworking individuals. We guarantee the best service from our managers, with quick response times, quality information and data, great pricing, and enthusiasm. Each job comes with a job report of the findings from the site.
