GPRS Performs Concrete Scanning

A contractor that was investigating the structural components of a floor slab in a mechanical room contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Illinois for concrete scanning. The contractor hoped to find valuable information about the reinforcing and conduits of the building for future modifications and add-ons and because they inquired that GPRS came out and scanned, they can be more comfortable and confident in their future coring. The contractor planned on placing their boring between the existing reinforcement.

GPRS scanning assists contractors by giving them a real-time view of the reinforcing and conduit layout helping them to know where they can place certain boring and it can help in reducing the likelihood of subsurface obstruction strikes during drilling, cutting, trenching, anchoring and other sub-surface applications. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems uses the latest GSSI Sir-3000 technology, in locating the critical reinforcing in the slab which allowed contractors to chip to the correct depth to confirm reinforcing size and existence. The radar emits radiation less than 1% of that found to be emitted by standard cell phones. This means practically no hazardous radiation to operators or persons above or below the work zone. Our system assists in the confirmation process of locating anomalies. Along with the GSSI Sir-3000 technology, GPRS uses the RD-8000 Locator to locate live power and RF signals underground. We can also detect utilities in/under concrete via induction or conduction with an exposed or known surface utility line. This was all done in a safe, time efficient, non-destructive way. GPRS specializes in multi-technology investigations. In order to do so, we employ highly qualified, trained and hardworking individuals, who are daily gaining more experience and knowledge about many different avenues of construction, reinforcement, conduits, slabs, columns, and many other structurally related questions. We guarantee the best service from our managers, with quick response times, quality information and data, great pricing, and enthusiasm. Each job comes with a job report of the findings from the site.
